With more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Young joins Bard High School Early College Baltimore after serving students and educators as a teacher, professor, instructional leader, leadership coach, and international school principal. Her work has spanned Baltimore City Public Schools, Howard County Public Schools, Washington, DC Charter Schools, Morgan State University, Teachers College, Columbia University, and most recently, Carol Morgan School in the Dominican Republic.
A proud Baltimore native, Ms. Young earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Morgan State University and her Master of Arts in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University. She is currently completing her Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University, where her research explores superintendents leading with an ethic of care during times of crisis.
Throughout her career, she has led school improvement efforts that strengthened instruction, cultivated positive school cultures, expanded equitable access to opportunity, and developed the leadership capacity of educators. In addition to her work in K-12 education, Ms. Young serves as an adjunct professor of English at Morgan State University. Her leadership is rooted in building strong partnerships with students, families, faculty, and the broader community to create schools where every learner is known, challenged, supported, and inspired.
